What is acquisition tax?

Acquisition tax (취득세) is a tax paid when purchasing property in Korea. The rate depends on property type, value, number of homes owned, and whether the area is regulated.

What rates apply to residential property?

For a 1st home: 1% up to 600M KRW, 1-3% for 600M-900M, and 3% above 900M. Multi-home in regulated areas: 8% (2nd home) or 12% (3rd+ home).

What is the rural special tax?

Rural special tax (농어촌특별세) is 0.2% and applies when the acquisition tax rate is 2% or higher.
