What is the standard deduction?
The standard deduction is a fixed amount subtracted from your gross income before taxes are calculated. For 2024, it is $14,600 for single filers and $29,200 for married filing jointly.
Does this include FICA taxes?
Yes, the calculator includes Social Security tax (6.2% up to $168,600) and Medicare tax (1.45% on all wages, plus 0.9% additional Medicare tax on earnings over $200,000).
